Catania is an Italian city on the east coast of Sicily facing the Ionian Sea, between Messina and Syracuse.

It is the capital of the Province of Catania, and is the second-largest city in Sicily.

Catania is known for its seismic history, having been destroyed by a catastrophic earthquake in 1169, another in 1693, and several volcanic eruptions from the neighboring Mount Etna volcano, the most violent of which was in 1669.

MESSINA

Messina is the capital of the Italian province of Messina. It is the 3rd largest city on the island of Sicily. It is located near the northeast corner of Sicily, at the Strait of Messina, opposite Villa San Giovanni on the mainland, and has close ties with Reggio Calabria.

The city's main resources are its seaports (commercial and military shipyards), cruise tourism, commerce, and agriculture (wine production and cultivating lemons, oranges, mandarin oranges, and olives).

Milazzo is a town and is the third-largest city in the province of Messina, and is one of the most important cities of Sicily.
The city proper is the point of reference of a vaste territory, from Villafranca Tirrena to Patti (over 200,000 inhabitants). Is also, an important centre of the Metropolitan Area Stretto di Messina (who also includes areas of Reggio Calabria). Located at the base of a peninsula that juts into the Tyrrhenian Sea with a small promontory.

Giardini Naxos is a comune in the province of Messina on the island of Sicily in southern Italy. It is situated on the coast of the Ionian Sea on a bay which lies between Cape Taormina and Cape Schisò. Since the 1970s it has become a seaside-resort. The port is the ideal connection to the most famous town Taormina that is a small town on the east coast of the island of Sicily, Italy, midway between Messina and Catania. Taormina has been a tourist destination since the 19th century. Its beaches are accessible via an aerial tramway on the Ionian sea and via highways from Messina in the north and Catania in the south.
